A Weekend of Classic Hip Hop in Atlanta Ga

We saw that they were having the hip hop concert in Atlanta. The only person I really wanted to see was Too $Hirt since I haven’t seen him in concert and that was on my bucket list. Youngbloodz was a bonus. I didn’t really care about the rest. It was as good as expected. The only missing artist was Scarface. But we had seen him before and he was … meh.

Then after we booked it, I found out that they were having a second concert the next day. I only found out when I was looking up information on Rakim and realized he was having s concert at the same venue the next day a long with a bunch of other artists.

This had its ups and downs. Kool Moe Dee was way past his prime and lip synced the entire set and I didn’t expect much from Doug E. Fresh. He only has two songs that anyone had heard of. He did those two and acted as a DJ and hype man the rest of the time.

KRS One, Big Daddy Kane and Rakim did not disappoint. They rapped live with most of their sets.

As far as the venue for both, the Maple House Amphitheater has to be our favorite one. No bag checking and they specifically allow and encourage everyone to bring their own food and drinks in.

We had a table the first night and even sitting in the bleachers had ample space for food and small table.

We also had a chance to stay in our first Hyatt House. Mostly for the proximity to Maple House. We loved it. There was a separate bedroom and living room and a full kitchen. It came in handy the next time we stayed in Atlanta.
